Project Three - The Whole Story
Literary Arts (fiction, drama, myth, poetry, prose, etc.) The Whole Story - Tell a published story in one frame. For an added challenge, update a story that is at least 50 years old. Size: at least 18”x 24”. Supporting class assignment: Create a maquette to work from.
The final piece should be one large drawing. No grids. No words.
This is not about illustrating one scene of a literary work. It is about telling the whole story (or the essence of the story) in one drawing.
Get creative here. Not everything needs to be literal. You can include some surreal!
Start by writing a short synopsis of the story. This will help you to organize your thoughts.
Questions to ask yourself:
What is the essence of the story?
Which scenes are important to telling the story?
Where is my drawing set? Is there an important place?

Homework - Due October 30th
Complete a Value Study for your final drawing. Remember that a value study works out the values and the composition on a smaller, simpler scale.
